A group of mums walking

Did you know that walking briskly for just 10 continuous minutes counts as exercise? It’s easier than you think to fit into your day!

Active 10 is part of the One You Kent programme, and encourages people to take brisk 10-minute walks every day. Brisk walking is a great way to start building up to a more active lifestyle, and with Active 10 you can track your progress with a free app.

Brisk walking is simply walking quicker than usual at a pace that gets your heart pumping. Every minute of activity counts, but aim for at least 10 minutes a day. The Active 10 app is a great way to help you monitor and gradually increase your brisk walking levels over time.

You could walk part of your journey home, pop to the shops on foot, or just get some fresh air. No gym memberships and no brightly coloured Lycra needed!

Active 10 Walking Routes in Kent & Medway

In support of One You Kent, Everyday Active have developed 10 walking routes (listed below) that can be enjoyed from the centre of Kent and Medway’s largest towns. Each route consists of at least one “Active 10”, and – because each one starts from a town centre – is designed to fit around your daily life: work, shopping or meeting up with friends. Each route also takes in some green space or parkland as part of its route, as studies have proven that spending time in green space is not only good for your physical health, but your mental health as well.

So take a look below for an Active 10 walking route near you.  Why not try one next time you pop into town?
