Margate is a vibrant seaside town, with its sandy beaches and numerous attractions. The seafront provides plenty of opportunities for relaxing walks, with its promenade, gardens and stunning views. The Winter Gardens is a historic concert hall and entertainment venue set in landscaped gardens right on the seafront, and it offers just one of many potential excellent spots for a walk to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This Active 10 walking route is 1.2 miles long in its entirety, consisting of approximately two complete Active 10s if you walk the whole route. However, feel free to walk as little or as much of the route as you feel able to.
From the High Street, head to the seafront and turn right along The Parade. Take a left at the Harbour Arm and walk round to the front of the Turner Contemporary. Walk along the lower promenade, past the Winter Gardens, before turning right to walk up the slope, around the gardens, and head back along Fort Crescent and Fort Hill, back to your starting point.
