Folkestone is a lovely seaside town, with its beaches and harbour, and town centre with pedestrianised shopping streets. The seafront provides plenty of opportunities for gentle walk, with the sea breeze and stunning views providing a calming atmosphere to be enjoyed. Lower Leas park, hugging the coastline, offers a beautiful spot just moments from the city centre in which to walk, relax and enjoy some green space.

This Active 10 walking route is 1.5 miles long in its entirety, consisting of between two and three complete Active 10s if you walk the whole route. However, feel free to walk as little or as much of the route as you feel able to.

From West Terrace, head towards the seafront and turn right onto The Leas, joining the footpath on the left-hand side, overlooking the seafront. Continue to follow the path, past Clifton Crescent, and entering into Lower Leas Coastal Park. Head downhill through the park, and join Lower Sandgate Road, turning left to head back in the direction you came from. Head back up the hill to join The Leas and return to the starting point of the walk.

Why not give this Active 10 walking route a try next time you’re in Folkestone town centre? Whether it’s during your lunchbreak from work, or taking a break from a shopping trip, this Active 10 walking route is sure to help you move towards a healthier lifestyle.
