Walking is the perfect exercise to keep your body and mind healthy. Just by simply walking, it helps us to maintain a healthy weight, strengthens our muscles and bones, raises our heart rates and releases endorphins which can help with feelings of depression, anxiety and stress. This in turn helps us to lead longer and happier lives.

What’s great about it is that walking is open to almost everyone and it’s free. You can start off slowly and build up gradually as you become more confident, and it’s a healthy way of increasing your stamina so if you want to, you can move on to different types of exercise.

Wellbeing Walks are run by the Ramblers and supports over 600 short, free walks throughout England, all led by friendly, trained walk leaders from organisations such as NHS Trusts, local councils and volunteer groups. Joining a Wellbeing Walk is a fantastic way to meet new people, all there to support and encourage each other. And who knows, you might make some great friends along the way.
